In my first SAM Minutes video, I introduced SAM—an agile, iterative development process—and I talked about how it differentiates from a traditional ADDIE-like process. If you have not watched this SAM Minutes video, I encourage you to do so before continuing, as it will provide you with foundational knowledge of this iterative development process. Watched it? Great, lets move forward!
Now that you know what SAM is let's dig into the unique kick-off event—and probably my favorite part of the SAM process—the Savvy Start.
So, you have a new training and development project, but how do you start it?
Many project development processes start with a long, drawn-out evaluation of the existing or “needed” content. SAM, on the other hand, starts with a preparation phase—a brief process of gathering information and background knowledge.
The Savvy Start is the initial collaborative brainstorming meeting that establishes the foundation for a successful project. Not sure what this means or what it entails? In episode two of The Sam Minute, I will give an you a one minute (literally!) overview of the Savvy Start.
